(Janesville, WI) – AMTEC Corp, a subsidiary of National Presto Industries, was recently awarded a contract extension by the U.S. Department of Defense. Valued at over $11MM, this contract extension is linked to the company’s 40mm grenade systems. AMTEC, which employs about 200 people at its Janesville facility, specializes in systems integrations that are linked to high-and-low volume munitions manufacturing and assembly operations.

National Presto, based in Eau Claire, WI operates three distinct and diverse business segments. The company’s defense division produces medium-caliber training / tactical ammunition, demolition devices, fuses and cartridge cases. Meanwhile, their housewares division designs and sells small appliances. Lastly, the company’s third division produces private-label products for infants and adults. 

AMTEC represents a growing list of WI-based companies operating as defense contractors. Other notable names include Fairbanks Morse, Marinette Marine Corp, Oshkosh Corp, as well as a host of other firms too.
