(Beloit, WI) - By Beloit Daily News Staff

Metso Paper USA Inc. is expanding its Beloit facility, adding 8,000 square feet of space to make room for production. The expansion and increase in production is expected to create eight to 10 jobs at the Beloit Metso location. The Beloit facility currently employs about 100 people.

Metso is adding the production of doctor, coater and creping blades to the existing operations at the Metso Beloit Service Center at 1280 Willowbrook Road. These cutting edge products are used in a wide variety of papermaking processes around the world. The expansion is the next phase of Metso’s 2009 acquisition of Pacific/Hoe Saw & Knife Company in Portland, Oregon.

In order to accommodate the new production, Hendricks Commercial Properties and Metso will expand the current facility. Ground breaking took place Monday and Metso expects manufacturing to begin in May 2013.

This is the first expansion of the Beloit facility.

The relocation of this product line will bring the manufacturing of these blades closer to Metso’s customers in the United States and improve distribution to global end users. Furthermore, the addition of blade manufacturing to the Beloit Service Center will complement existing production and improve the order fulfillment process.

Metso opened its Beloit Service Center on Willowbrook Road in November of 2001. The 87,000-square-foot facility included manufacturing, warehouse and office space.

Metso is a global supplier of technology and services to customers in the process industries, including mining, construction, pulp and paper, power, and oil and gas.
