(Evansville, WI) - Stoughton Trailers announced that they intend to re-open their Evansville Plant. The 345,000 SF plant, located on USH 14 in northwest Rock County, had been shuttered since 2007. The company will retool the facility with technology intensive equipment and produce containers / chassis through a redesigned sustainable production platform. Within two years, Stoughton Trailers anticipates filling this retooled facility with up to 300 new jobs.

Stoughton Trailers is a vertically integrated manufacturer of conventional and intermodal transportation equipment. Headquartered in South Central WI, the company has a combined production footprint that exceeds 1 Million SF. A nationwide dealer network, coupled with an after market parts and distribution center, ensures Stoughton Trailers' customers with unparalleled customer service.

To facilitate this project, a low-interest financing package has been offered by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. Details regarding this package, as well as other potential forms of assistance, will likely surface within a few months.

According to James Otterstein, Rock County Economic Development Manager, "This project reflects the trends that have been emerging throughout the manufacturing sector. Incrementally, certain segments of the manufacturing economy are regaining strength and Rock County has positioned itself to capitalize on this resurgence. The State of Wisconsin and Rock County are definitely open for business."
