The former Kmart property, located at 2233 Humes Road, will be redeveloped this spring and anchored by a Festival Foods grocery store.

The existing 107,000 SF Kmart will be scraped and replaced by new 77,000 SF, 24-hour grocery store. As the 22nd Festival Foods location in WI, this store will offer natural and organic foods, fresh sushi, an extensive deli and catering services.  Additionally, the “green designed” store will feature a community conference room and a Tot Spot, which will provide supervised in-store child care. Festival Foods expects to employ up to 250 associates at its Janesville store.

“We are honored to become a member of this wonderful Wisconsin Community, and we are excited about the economic impact that this new store will bring, both through new construction and as an ongoing business operation for many years to come,” said Mark Skogen, President and CEO of Festival Foods.

The redevelopment project will be led by Commercial Horizons Inc., who in turn, will sell the finished development back to Festival Foods.

Tom Lasse, managing partner in a local limited liability company that currently owns the property, has been aggressively working to reposition the property following Kmart’s 2014 store closure.
