(Janesville, WI) – Universal Recycling Technologies LLC (URT) announced an expansion project at its Janesville headquarters location. The company will lease an adjacent 40,000 SF facility, raising their total footprint within the City’s Beloit Ave. Industrial Corridor to nearly 200,000 SF. URT currently employs over 200 and this expansion will add another 30 +/- positions.

Established in 2003 primarily as an electronic waste recycler specializing in cathode ray tubes, URT has developed into a vertically integrated provider that services original equipment manufacturers (OEM), local units of government, retailers and Fortune 500 companies. In addition to manufacturing its own proprietary recycling equipment, URT also provides: nationwide universal waste collection and recycling services; pre-paid, customized pack-and-ship recycling packages; asset management and recovery services; and a comprehensive e-waste recycling program.

URT, which is owned by Hendricks Holdings Co. (Beloit, WI), is a recognized Basel Action Network e-Stewards Recycler. In addition to its Janesville headquarters, URT has seven other facilities located throughout the U.S.

Helgesen Development Corporation, Hendricks Development Group and McGuire Mears & Associates collaborated to facilitate this project. Corporate Contractors will handle facility renovations, while architectural support services will be provided by Angus Young Associates. The City of Janesville supported this project through its Tax Increment Financing program.

According to James Ottestein, Rock County Economic Development Manager, “URT’s expansion provides another visible example of the economic repositioning and revitalization efforts that are occurring throughout the Janesville-Beloit MSA.”
