The Rock County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a land option Resolution at its November 15, 2012 meeting to facilitate the future growth plans of a local manufacturer. GOEX Corporation, located on Foster Ave. in Janesville, requested the option to position itself for a future relocation and expansion project. The option covers a 5-acre parcel, which would be carved out from the County Farm South, located South of USH 14 and east of the newly constructed Rock Haven complex.

During the last decade, the GOEX has continued to grow its customer base; increase its market share; and expand operations locally. Consequently, the company has maximized its present location to the point where it is landlocked. More importantly, economic and supply chain considerations are now requiring GOEX to incorporate rail service into its business model. While GOEX already owns property immediately east of the County Farm South, it does not have enough land to meet the its future expansion plans (beyond the initial relocation and expansion project), as well as accommodate infrastructure right-of-way considerations, local site plan and state building code requirements.

Per the approved Resolution, GOEX will have until 12/31/13 to exercise the land option and the purchase price of the property is set at $46,000/acre. Assuming the option is exercised, this project could involve the construction of a new 150,000 +/- SF production and distribution facility. In addition to retaining its existing 130 employees, this project would trigger the need for GOEX to hire another 70 +/- employees.
