Rock County’s Economy Scores a Top 10 Ranking

(Rock County, WI) The economic resurgence of the Janesville-Beloit MSA has propelled itself into a Top 10 national ranking, according to a recent monthly scorecard produced by Headlight Data.

For the period of October 2016 through October 2017, the Janesville-Beloit MSA’s employment base increased by 3.2%. This growth rate resulted in an overall weighted rank of #8 among 100 peer small metropolitan locations. This Top 10 ranking was the highest recorded by any Wisconsin metro area, irrespective of population size.  

When factoring the area’s job growth ranking against 287 small metros (with less than 500,000 population) during the same time frame, the Janesville-Beloit MSA notched the #22 spot. Meanwhile, the Madison MSA was ranked #22 out of 53 mid-sized metro locations.
